Job Overview

The Logistics and Transportation Coordinator collaborates directly with our external transportation partners to achieve optimal service while controlling costs. You will cross-functionally coordinate with other Procsea teams to minimize purchased transportation costs and to improve time in transit for our customers. The position improves current operational processes by establishing innovative practices and operating plans. You are the gatekeeper for cost-containment initiatives as well as the transportation service quality: on-time and in the condition our customer expect from Procsea. As part of a growing startup, you will play a vital role in expanding Procsea to new markets, both domestic and international.

Roles & Responsibilities

You will operate within a highly dynamic and independent environment where you will be parts of several cross-functional teams. As the go-to person for all matters involving transportation your role can be viewed in three parts:

  • Project Management: As Procsea expands its operations you will be leading and involved in several projects geared towards expansion and growth including shipper startups, new market entry plans, creating a national & international transportation plans, and innovative packaging systems projects to name a few.  

  • Operations Process Improvement: Analyze current operational processes to determine areas of improvement and create plans to accomplish objectives and minimize risks. This includes analysis of the network flows, lane utilization and analysis, as well as putting in place and monitoring actions plans. You will evaluate cost and process alternatives to make sound business recommendations for operational gains.  

  • Cost control: You will analyze the ongoing transportation costs and determine courses of action depending on the cost picture. This includes understanding and communication shipping volumes impacting costs, hub structures, and other components impacting transportation costs.

Role Specific Requirements

  • You have experience and understanding of the domestic seafood transportation industry. Experience in the international industry is a plus.

  • You have a demonstrated ability in leading project teams, ideally in opening new transportation lanes, designing and implementing corresponding operating plans.

  • You are at ease with data analysis & interpretation. You can transform data sets into information and can communicate the message clearly to stakeholders.

  • You will be working across several teams both internal and external, therefore you are a strong communicator and can adapt to different environments.

  • You are fluent in both French and English and are at ease in oral and written communication in both languages. Other languages a plus.

  • You have growth mindset and are looking for solutions and different ways of “how to do things”. Problems do not phase you; you see them as opportunities to learn something new, improve, and innovate.
